CPR and First Aid Training

As the COVID-19 pandemic Public Health Emergency (PHE) ended this past May, the Office of Behavioral Health is discontinuing the allowance of online CPR/First Aid training for MHRT I certification as of September 1, 2023.
 
Online courses completed prior to September 1, 2023 will be accepted for MHRT I certification.
 
The American Heart Association’s and HSI’s blended programs where part is online and part is in person, will be accepted as they were prior to the pandemic.

Please remember that the only approved online trainings through August 31, 2023 are the three listed below:

The face-to-face trainings listed below are always accepted.

On the website, choose “CPR” on the side menu and then “Find a Class Near You”.  In the new window, enter your zip code and choose the CPR button, then press the “Submit” button.  You will then be provided with a list of instructors in your area with contact information, most of these instructors offer both CPR and First Aid.

Both their face-to-face and blended courses are accepted.

American Heart Association website

The Red Cross has offices across the state of Maine and offers instruction in both CPR and First Aid. Contact information can be found on their website by clicking on the Maine Chapters link.

On the website, choose “Training Centers” and then choose Maine.

Both their face-to-face and blended courses are accepted.

HSI website

Point your mouse to “Find a Center” and from the drop-down menu choose “Find an Education Center”. In the resulting Fill-in form, choose Maine. You will then see a list of trainers in Maine.

Emergency Care & Safety Institute

Click on either “Find an Instructor” or “Find a Class”.

EMS Safety

On the website, from the LEARN drop-down menu choose “First Aid Training”. Then under the Classroom Training header choose “NSC First Aid, CPR & AED”. Then from the menu on the right, choose “Find a First Aid Training Center”. Enter the info for the course you want and Maine for the state for a list of qualified instructors with contact information.

Located in South Portland. Offers the American Heart Association Heartsaver course, which covers both First Aid and CPR. If you go on their website, go to their website and click on “Training Services”.
