New Dates for MHRT/C Domain 5 Train-the-Trainer!
The MHRT/C Domain 5 – Policy Knowledge, non-academic curriculum Train-the-Trainer session has been rescheduled to Wednesday September 27, from 8:30AM – 4:00PM, and Friday September 29, from 8:30AM – 11:45AM. Participants must attend both days. It is being offered via Zoom.
The deadline for qualified trainers to apply is September 1. Information on how to apply is located on the CFL-Muskie.org website, under the MHRT/C, Non-Academic Training tab. Reminder, even if a trainer is approved to teach another domain, an application is still necessary.
Space is limited, and there is no fee for the training.
MHRT/C Continuing Education Reminder: As of June 1 – the 18-hour continuing education requirement for MHRT/C certificate renewal must include a minimum of six hours of live training. This can be face-to-face or real time (live) webinars or classes, NOT asynchronous classes.
Early Reminder: Deadline for MHRT/C Domain 3 Trainer Renewal
The deadline for MHRT/C Domain 3 – Ethics and Professional Conduct, non-academic curriculum trainers to apply for renewal is December 31, 2023. As one of the renewal requirements is to teach the course at least twice in the three-year expiration period, a five-month notice might help with scheduling.
MHRT/C Certifications are Up!
The end of fiscal year 2023 marked the fourth consecutive year of increased MHRT/C certifications. This reflects both full and provisional certificates, which are both fully reimbursable under MaineCare rule. This four-year glance is also the first period with a continuing education requirement, demonstrating 2045 MHRT/Cs renewed their full certification.
MHRT I-Online CPR/First Aid Option Discontinued as of September 1, 2023
As the COVID-19 pandemic Public Health Emergency (PHE) ended this past May, the Office of Behavioral Health is discontinuing the allowance of online CPR/First Aid training for MHRT I certification as of September 1, 2023.
Online courses completed prior to September 1, 2023, will be accepted for MHRT I certification. The American Heart Association’s blended program where part is online and part is in person, and HIS’s (formerly American Safety & Health Institute), will be accepted as they were prior to the pandemic.

MHSS Train-the-Trainer and Trainer Recertification
Save-the-Date(s): Please note there are two locations to choose for the MHSS training. The application to attend is coming soon.
- November 27-29 – MHSS Train-the-Trainer at UMA in Bangor. Three full days for new trainers.
- November 30 – MHSS Trainer Recertification at UMA in Bangor. A full-day update for current trainers.
- December 11-13 – MHSS Train-the-Trainer at AngleZ Behavioral Health in Augusta. Three full days for new trainers.
- December 14 – MHSS Trainer Recertification at AngleZ Behavioral Health in Augusta. A full-day update for current trainers.
